Having grown up in Africa, Susan has seen first hand the effects of extreme poverty on the lives of children, and the struggles that they face when growing up in an orphanage. She joined the Children’s Bridge Foundation in order to make a difference in the lives of these children.
Susan has two daughters who were adopted from China, as well as a “homemade” son. She has been a long standing volunteer with the Children’s Bridge organization, both as Editor of the newsletter for 14 years, and as Regional Coordinator for the Ottawa Region for 4 years.
Her professional background includes 11 years working in the area of children’s mental health in the school system, providing counselling for with children with high behavioural, social and emotional needs. Fourteen years ago, she switched gears, and became an elementary school teacher, and is now a vice principal.
